I got the Distress inks out to make my own pattern paper!

I made a simple stencil from acetate for the stripe piece and stamped onto the top piece with Tim Holtz stamps.

I have a layout to share with you today...Bless Them.

I have used the gorgeous Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium papers for this layout, along with 2 Tim Holtz diecuts (Holly Branch and Caged Bird)

Both the Holly and Bird die cuts have been coloured with Distress inks and a blending tool. The holly berries had a coat of Glossy accents and the Bird has a tiny seed bead eye.

I wanted a glittery title for the layout but didn't have any alphas in my stash, I grabbed a selection of chipboard alphas, covered them in ultra fine glitter, when they were dry I gave them a good coat of Glossy accents. They have a lovely enamelled look in real life.

All the papers are available from the C4E Store along with the Bless Them Kit.

How are the Christmas projects going?

I've Finally managed to get some cards made! Still a few to go, some Calendars and other bits and bobs if there is time, but the bulk of the cards are done.

If you are super organised and have some spare time this month try the December Mojo sketch for your next layout.

It's a simple sketch with lots of space for embellishments or keep it nice and simple with just a few choice pieces.

I used the sketch for this layout "Xmas Hugs" The green paper is pleated and stitched before adhering to the layout. There is machine stitching around the panels and accents of glitter.

The papers are My Minds Eye, sadly now very low stock they were gorgeous to work with!

November Mojo Sketch

Hello everyone :)

I can't believe it's November already! This year has just flown by :)
It's a busy time here in the C4E Kitchen Preperations are underway for some gorgous new Christmas page kits using Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium and My Minds Eye Lost and Found Christmas.
This months crop is next Sunday at Banwell village hall ,click the link above for details. There are still places available if you would like to join us for some Christmas crafting. We will be scrapping with Graphics 45 and making Christmas decorations using diecuts.

I have chosen an one of my favourite sketchs for this months Mojo sketch.

This is a great sketch for 12 x 12" and 8.5 x 11" layouts, there is plenty of room for titles, embellishments and journaling.

I used the sketch to create this layout Magic Dust.
There are a few Magic Dust Kits left with instruction to complete the layout HERE

Magic Dust documents our family tradition of sprinkling Magic Reindeer dust along our front path. We do this so that the reindeer will smell the oats, see the sparkles and lead Santa to the house lol!

The boys love to do this as well as leaving milk and biscuits for Santa.

The kit features beautiful papers from the My Minds Eye Lost and Found 2 collection, Burlap trim and diecut chipboard pieces. There are full instructions to make the Edna layout included. You will need a few extra tools and materials such as embossing powders, heat tool, stamp, Distress ink pads, buttons and embroidery thread.

How are you getting on with your Christmas card making?

If, like me you need hundreds and have made only three (yes really only three!!!),

this card sketch may help you get started.

Using a gorgeous Karens Doodles image (skater girl), Tim Holtz Shabby Vintage papers and one of the Crafts 4 Eternity Vintage Christmas Sentiment tags I have made this card.

I think I'll now dig out the Christmas CD and get my Christmas cards made!

Milk Carton Gift boxes

With Christmas fast approaching I've been looking for some different ways to package gifts.

Each year my family buy a 'table gift'. It's a little gift given after dinner, usually something funny and never expensive!

One year I made 'sock cupcakes'

This year I 'm thinking of these........

Milk Carton Gift boxes!

I'm not sure what will go in them yet LOL! but I do love their simple cuteness :)

These milk carton gift boxes were made at the Craft 4 Eternity September crop using Bazzill Kraft Cardstock and Memories Blossoms paper.

As well as the "A Stitch in Time" layout I have used these gorgeous papers for a couple of cards.

For the first one I have added a Chipboard accent from the Crate Paper Portrait Collection.

With lots of extra Gold Stickles detail this card is very sparkly !!

For my second card I have used a Kraft Cardstock base and printed quote.

On the inside of the card I have added strips of the Forever dotted paper and another quote.

all finished off with a generous helping of Gold Stickles !!

These papers are limited in numbers so grab them while you can!

A Stitch in Time

Hello Everyone :)
This month's feature kit is now available Here.
It features fabulous papers from the My minds Eye lost and found 2 collection.
These beautiful papers inspired my creation of 'A stitch in Time'. The layout, tells the story of how my
great grand father bought my mum's first ever sewing machine. In later years, my grand father bought my first sewing machine, oh how history repeats itself.

In this picture, I have used Crate Paper Toybox Alphas teamed with American Crafts Glitter Thickers for my titles which I have separated across the page.
I have used hand cut flags as accents with lots of Gold Stickles.

I wanted to keep the fabulous design of the paper a focus, therefore, I clustered my photo, title and embellishments to an open space one side. This left an empty corner at the top right hand side of the page, which was the perfect place to add a pennant flag and die cut sewing bobbin.

The canvas dressform was inked with Rangers Vintage Photo distress ink. Once dry, I stamped again with Vintage Photo and Tim Holtz Harlequin stamp, finishing off with Gold Stickles.

                            The 'A stitch in Time' kit is now available from C4E store.
It comes with full instructions for you to create your own 'stitch in time'.
To complete the layout as shown you will need a few additional supplies :
Vintage Photo Distress ink and ink pad
                             Stamps - Tim Holtz Harlequin and Maya road English Ruler
                             Gold Stickles
                             Circle punches
                             Alphas

A piece of craft paper inspired me in this project, it invoked a memory that was special to me. I have shared that memory with you, now its your turn. What has inspired you? Bake Them flower tutorial

Hello everyone :)

As promised I am back today to show you how to make the fab flower from the Bake Them! layout.

Here's how to make the flower

Cut about 8 circle shapes from double sided pattern paper.You can use any circle punch or die such as scalloped circles, doilies or plain circles for a more masculine look like mine.

Fold each circle as shown in the photo above.

Punch a 1" circle from some cardstock and adhere the folded circles to it carefully lining them up.

The number of circles you need to complete the flower will depend on their size.

Add a brad or button to the centre of the flower to finish.

These would look great finished with a chipboard centre too!

September Mojo sketch

Hello everyone :)
The inspiration for this months Mojo sketch and layout came from my youngest sons love of baking.
I wanted to include 3 fairly large photos to show some of the important steps of our baking session, melt mix and lick!

I didn't want to over embellish this page so decided on a fab boyish flower,with the pinwheel accent to help balance the layout, and a couple of gorgeous Toybox Chip accents to represent the star of the page.

The title for the layout was inspired by Alix's final step in his recipe. He said we had to bake the cornflake cakes in the fridge lol!

I've used a little recipe card for my journaling to record Alix's recipe.

I know, my handwriting is terrible lol!

And here is the recipe journaling card for you :)

Treasured Photo

Hello everyone :)

Have you seen These fabulous gadgets?

It scans old negatives and slides in to your computer so you can then re-print old photos.

I've had a wonderful time seeing old photos I never knew existed.

I created the Treasured Photo layout to record this new gadget and the lovely memories it has given us.

The focus for this layout was not the story you see in the photo but more about having these photos and how we will treasure them even though they may be blurry!

The layout has a very 70's feel with these gorgeous DP's from Crate Paper and My Minds Eye which are available in the C4E store.

Next time you are sorting through your photos and go to throw out the not quite perfect ones, stop and think could it tell a different story? Would someone 30 years from now treasure that imperfection?

C4E Crop Birthday!

Last month was the C4E crop's 2nd birthday!!

We had all the usual cropping fun with a page kit in the morning and afternoon workshop.

we started our circle journals this month and will be sending them off on their journeys next month.

We had the most chocolaty cake I could find!!

Even Molly the dog got in to the photo lol! But no cake for her!

It was a fabulous day with scrapping, cake, coffee and friends :) Perfect!

My project this week is a mixed media canvas. This canvas was completed for the June Crop workshop.

I have used a selection of image downloads from the Internet, mostly from the Graphics Fairy.

I've inked the canvas with Distress ink pad, stamped with a Prima Postcard stamp, added some crackle paint and then added the cut out collage pieces.

C4E Recipe #28 - Embellishment Recipe

Not surprisingly I am a "little" behind with the end of term teacher cards! This is the first lol! Probably best not to mention Christmas yet either! eeeek!!!!!

I had a play with some alcohol inks, glimmer mists, doilies and bias binding today. Probably not the best products to be playing with whilst wearing a white top lol!

The card has lots of shimmer thanks to the copious amounts of glimmer mists, sadly I failed to capture this in the photos, however I did manage to take the photos before the card blew away!

The DP is MME Remember Roses from the Stella and Rose collection inked with Stormy Sky distress inks and not a hint of Stickles in sight! #shock!#

It looks like the weather is going to be perfect for crafting this weekend ;)

July Mojo Sketch

Hello Everyone :)

This month's Mojo sketch is Quiet a busy one! It's great for using up those scraps of paper and looks fab finished with some zig zag stitching!

My layout is about random moments from my day. The photos are a collection of images from one day last month. Quite typical for me lol! A huge pile of ironing, reading with the boys, craft and computer work and things where they shouldn't be lol! The little ghosties were waiting to be put away for a while.

I used my sewing machine to stitch the pieces together and give it a patchwork quilt effect. I think it took longer to arrange the paper pieces than to stitch it!

I have kept the embellishment simple just adding some Tim Holtz fragments, a date spot and journaling prompt card tucked behind the photo.

I have added some Crate Paper Alphas and given them a coat of glossy accents.

All the papers used and the Alphas are available in the C4E store.

So grab that box of scraps, some random photos and create a fab layout today!

June's Mojo Sketch

Good morning :)

May Mojo sketch

Good Morning :)
I'm a little later than planned with this post (not unusual lol!)
If you are struggling with missing Mojo at the moment why not try this sketch to kick start the creative juices?

There is a lot going on with this sketch and plenty of scope for alterations. Why not change some of the shapes or add a few more layers?

I have used the New Job page kit with this sketch. The clay buttons, trim and ribbon add a little texture and the hint of feminine touches is just enough to keep my girly mojo happy whilst still keeping the layout fairly masculine.
I have used Copics to colour the Dream Street chip alphas and cut the journaling card in half to balance the layout out more.

Good morning :)
This layout was one of the January Crop kit layouts. I had enough left over from the first layout, Mr & Mrs to make a second layout using the Creativity prompt New Beginnings again.

You may have noticed that I am a tiny bit dis-organized lol! I tried to follow Ali Edwards one word for 2010 but failed miserably to get organized. This year I wanted to give it another shot and try harder. How's it going? I'm not there yet but I do have another 8 months lol! I'm definitely doing better than last year.

I love using quotes on layouts. There are a lot of fabulous websites with hundreds of useful quotes, I google the topic I want and note down my faves. I'm getting quite a collection :)
I like how this quote allows me to fail lol!

To give myself a little extra luck I have raided my bits 'n' bobs jar for some lucky charms!

I hope you are enjoying this extra long bank holiday :)

The layout I have to share with you today was the first January Crop kit layout. There was enough goodies in the kit to make two layouts.

There are a few kits left HERE if you want to grab one.

The Best Creation papers are beautiful with glitter and gloss.

I like to make different shaped layouts it adds interest to an album. This photo is of my wedding in 2007. I still have lots of wedding photos to scrap but I prefer to scrap them when I feel like doing them rather than completing an entire album before I move on to the next subject. It keeps my Mojo ticking over :)

The trickiest part of the layout was all the cutting.

Bespoke Buttons

Hello everyone :)

I love Buttons!! They are a fabulous embellishment for any project, they are centres for flowers, they make great borders on a layout and they come in sooooo many shapes, sizes and colours.

So why make your own buttons?

Making your own buttons means you will always have the perfect button for your project and it's fun!!

This month I tried lots of different techniques I found around the internet and magazines for creating my own unique buttons, here are 2 of my favourites.

The first method is using Chipboard. You can buy a huge range of die cut chipboard shapes suitable for buttons. These can be painted, stamped or covered with pattern paper. To make your own shapes you will need some chipboard, the thickness of the chipboard will depend on how you are cutting your shapes. If you want thicker buttons you can adhere several layers together.

You will also need some pattern paper, adhesive, stamps, ink pad, distress inks, Glossy accents, Crackle accents, punches, dies and die cutting machine.

Adhere the pattern paper to the chipboard, allow it to dry completely. Punch or die cut button shapes then

punch 2 or 4 button boles in the centre of the buttons. Ink the edges with distress inks to give them an Aged effect & cover the chipboard edges, Vintage photo works great for an aged effect. Stamp onto the buttons using black ink, when completely dry cover with crackle or glossy accents.

The second technique uses air dry clay. This has to be my favourite method and so addictive! I know have a box full of clay buttons ready to colour in lots of different shapes.

Air Dry clay is available from lots of craft stores, I prefer the Air dry clay to the oven bake version because I am prone to burning thing in the oven lol!

Along with the clay you will need some cutters ( I used various lids for circle buttons!), paints, varnish and / or glossy accents, cocktail stick, somewhere flat to work and something flat such as a tray to dry the buttons. You will also need some stamps or anything with texture such as a brush.

Knead and prepare the clay, roll out on a flat surface to an even thickness. Press a stamp or any textured surface such as a brush or texture plate into the clay and carefully lift off. Using cutters cut button shapes from the clay. Pierce holes in the centre of each button with a cocktail stick. Pierce from both sides so that it will thread smoothly. Place on a flat surface and allow to dry completely. Mine were dry within 24 hours, drying time will depend on the thickness of the buttons.

If the buttons are a little rough around the edges use some sandpaper to smooth them.

You can now paint, stamp or ink your buttons. I used acrylic paints and Distress inks to colour my buttons.

Add clear varnish or glossy accents for a shiny finish. It is a good idea to give the back of the buttons a coat of varnish to seal them.

There are lots of ways to stamp, paint and finish your buttons I had lots of fun experimenting and getting messy!

Cupcakes

Hello everyone :)

We have lovely sunshine here today and I have a layout to share with you :)
Cupcakes was the February Crop layout and kit. (available HERE)
The Creativity Prompt was Loves of your life. Each month I try to encourage the ladies to scrap about different topics. We all scrap about our family and special events but what about the everyday things that make us the people we are?
This month I asked the ladies to try to scrap about something they love but to avoid the more obvious topics such as family.

I chose cupcakes :) I love to bake cupcakes and create new flavours and toppings. Sadly I don't get as much baking time as I once had but when I do get chance to put on my apron and cover the kitchen with flour, (am I the only one who manages to cover everything with flour? lol!) I am in heaven :)

I have used the new Vintage Love Tickets, ribbon, lace, ric rac, embroidery thread and lots of punches to create this layout.

All the instructions along with the creativity prompt are included in the kit available HERE.
I'm off to enjoy a little sunshine!

Hello everyone :)

Lots of new goodies were added to the store last week page kits, journaling cards, card kits and some yummy new papers! All the new goodies can be found in the NEW IN section of the store.

First up is a new page kit. Cupcakes - £3.97

This kit contains beautiful papers from My Minds Eyes Stella and Rose collection, lace ribbon and embroidery thread. Also included are brand new C4E vintage love ticket strip and journaling cards.

As always instructions to complete the layout (Cupcakes) are included.

Something fairly new to C4E are the Card kits. These kits contain enough products to make at least 2 square cards with left overs!

Vintage Romance includes Papers from the Stella and Rose collection, beautiful paper flowers, ribbon, lace and vintage images.

C4E Recipe #9 - Sketch Challenge

Hello everyone :)

Another week has flown by and it's time for the Recipe Challenge again!
It was really hard choosing the Top 3 last week with so many fabulous Easel cards. I noticed a lot of "Twisted" easel cards too! Must have a go at that :)
It's the first challenge of the month which means it is a sketch challenge this week.

If like me you like to work with sketches there are lots of free sketches to be snagged HERE (don't forget to tell everyone where you got it! :))

It was my lovely mum's birthday this week and this was her card.

I have used the new My Minds Eye Stella & Rose papers which have arrived in the C4E Kitchen and will be available on the site just as soon as I stop waffling here lol!

C4E R#8 - Easel Card Tutorial

This weeks Recipe challenge has been posted HERE and this week we are asking you to make an easel card.

There are a few ways to make an easel card here is how I make mine.

EASEL CARD TUTORIAL

You will need two pieces of cardstock - 6x12" and 6x6"

1. Fold the 6x12" cardstock in half to make a 6x6" card base. Open the card and fold the front in half towards the centre (spine) of the card.

2. Add adhesive to the card as shown and attach the 6x6" piece of cardstock so that the bottom is adhered to the card base and the top is free as shown below.

3. Your card should look like this

4. Decorate both the base and front of your card.

You will need to add something to the base for the top of the card to hold the top of the card upright this can be almost anything, chipboard, buttons, flowers or sentiments.

Here are a few I have made recently.

For this card I used a decorated scallop circle to support the card.

You can make any size or shape easel card. I used Nestibilities dies to create this one.

For this card I used a rosette on the base for the card top to sit behind.

C4E Recipe Challenge #7 - Embellishment Recipe

This is my card this week.

I've slipped beads onto my pins and hidden them in the flowers and for the hearts I've used EK's Graceful Heart border punch. The Glitter I've used is Star Dust Stickles.

The image is hAngler stAnglar and coloured with copics and extra Stickles :)

It is the C4E crop on Sunday I have some of the beautiful My Mind Eye Stella and Rose papers for the kits which will be available in the store next week.

The class this month is a photo storage box which will also help to speed up your scrapping!

Hello everyone :)

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

I'm back after a nice break with the family building Lego and watching rubbish TV lol! Hopefully the normal blogging schedule will resume next week :)

The first C4E Recipe challenge has been posted on the challenge blog with a fresh new format to the weekly challenges. This week we have a Sketch Recipe which is simply a sketch to follow.

As always the C4E design team have made beautiful examples and there is a Mini card Kit up for grabs!

I turned the sketch upside down for my card and used a stamp from the C4E store.

This Gorjuss girl is called Poppy Fields and is available HERE along with a few others.

I have coloured her with Distress inks and twinkled her with H2O's and Stickles.

Crepe flower tutorial

Today's tutorial is from C4E waitress Pinky!

This is my tutorial for crepe paper flower. Please remember I have never done a tutorial before, I had to take the photos with one hand while working with the other and the light was terrible. So here goes, hope it helps you, its really easy but if you don't get the drift just say.

Cut yourself two rough circles about 2inches in diameter, one rough circle a little bit smaller. Cut one strip of crepe about an inch wide and about the length of an a4 page (you can adjust these measurements bigger or smaller depending on the finished size you want to achieve).

Scrunch the circles tightly then gently unfold but don't flatten them as you want to keep the wrinkle effect.

Take the narrow strip and start to roll to create the centre of your rose.

As you roll twist the paper over, roll and twist like this till you get to the end of the strip.

Finish the piece off by securing with a glue dot (these are best as they don't wet the crepe paper).

You should have something that looks like this (yours will probably be better!) Put a glue dot in the centre of each circle and pop one on top of the other. Add 4 or 5 glue dot to the rose centre and position in the flower circles. You might squash the centre at this stage but crepe is very forgiving. Use your pokey tool to reshape it.

Your flower is now finished. You can add a little bit of glue with a glue pen and sprinkle some glamour dust or you can spray with some spray and sparkle like I did with this one.
